Since the fall of 2012, the GMoMA has run Difficult Play, a comprehensive plural art program with artists from a wide range of fields including community artists, sculptors, theater actors, traditional Korean music performers, intangible cultural assets, and media artists alongside the disabled. This program displays a process of communication and collaboration between ten intellectually handicapped individuals and six artists, disclosing the diverse conflicts, respect, prejudices, understanding, homogeneity, and incongruity stemming from the differences and distances among them. Unlike other theaters and performances by disabled persons, this program does not aim to reinforce their capabilities or enhance their social abilities through artistic experiences. This is a beautiful endeavor to discover freestanding artistic value by disabled artists in terms of diversity.
