Portraying This Space and That Dream
Period/ 2014.04.05(Sat) ~ 2014.04.24(Thu)
The Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art (GMoMA) unveils Emerging of the Space, an exhibition designed to clarify that space is not only a physical condition but a site bearing thought and emotion from November 21, 2015 through April 9, 2016. The exhibition that drew 30,000 visitors opened an audience engagement program in which each viewer is asked to portray a space they thought was superb and put what they depicted on the wall. And thankfully, as many as 2,000 people left their pictures. As the organizer thought that it’s not enough to send them some gift, the museum displayed 400 chosen pieces.

What’s the stunning space they consider? First of all, many brought nature to mind. And a lot of people portrayed their beloved family and lovers. A considerable number of visitors depicted their rooms or dwellings where they could stay in a hushed atmosphere. Quite a few people portrayed unrealistic, abstract, and geometric spaces of their imagination while others depicted their mental, psychological space. Naïve pictures done by kids were funny and fascinating.

The exhibition served as an opportunity to convey what we felt to you and enabled visitors to feel more friendly and familiar with the museum. Who would be the next main character of the exhibition? We always anticipate your participation.
