Together with the Korea Foundation and the Kunsthalle Münster, the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art is co-organizing Irony and Idealism, a cultural exchange exhibition featuring contemporary art from South Korea and Germany. Demonstrating current trends in contemporary art, eight artists from South Korea and Germany are presented who have been actively working beyond their national borders. The exhibition also shows how cultural exchange can be driven and achieved by public museums and institutions.

The Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art is unveiling a contemporary craft exhibition on a large scale to mark the 11th anniversary of its opening. This exhibition brings together works by 32 craft artists in the fields of woodcraft, textile art, metalcraft, ceramics, and glasswork who have lived or actively worked mainly in the Gyeonggi area.

A family is a social structure that’s existence is as old as human history. As society has experienced change, the concepts and forms of a family has also changed, due to the direct correlation between them. Family Report examines how the definition of family has changed in this rapidly developing modern society through contemporary artworks which can be categorized under the theme of ‘family,' providing viewers an opportunity to reflect on the value and meaning of family, which has been unaffected by time. The Gyeonggi Creation Center and the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art present the relay exhibition Quantum Jump 2016: KIM Dongchan that will be held from December 13 of 2016 through January 8 of 2017. Quantum Jump is a series of exhibitions through which four resident artists are chosen to have their works displayed consecutively. Since 2015 this exhibition has been taking place at the GMoMA Project Gallery. This exhibit program is intended to provide up-and-coming artists who will lead the future of contemporary art with a platform for their activities while offering diverse content to viewers. With “quantum jump” (a physics term referring to the act of jumping from one energy level to another) as its title, each resident artist’s freestanding work is expected to come together to create explosive energy.
